Probably best to just start with the shims that were on the truck. Put the knuckle halves back together after replacing the knuckle cone and or bearing then measure the torque it takes to rotate the knuckle useing one of the top bolts with a beam style torque wrench (not one of the click ones). I think it's supposed to be 27 ft/lbs (but check the svc manual). Then just either add a thin shim if its too high or remove one to increase the torque. Takes a couple tries to get the ideal combination but its not hard.
