Anyone know anything about CB Radio's? OT

I just bought a very nice cobra cb radio that is blue tooth capable. I want this because taking a call in my power wagon is darn near impossible but supposedly it cancels lots of road noise, plus its just so darn fun! Any way i know nothing about these radios as far as range, wattage ECT..Some people make a CB radio amplifiers that i guess boost the range and clarity of the signal. Is a amplifier necessary with a good radio? What should you look for in an amplifier? they use a bunch of terms i dont understand because i know very little about wattage ect . I was hoping you could maybe explain some of this to me.
