My 1943 WC-53 Carryall had the embossed areas on each side of the rear opening for hinges. It even had the backing plates, but they were not drilled and taped. Yet, all WC-53's were built with the drop down and lift tail gate.
The rear opening was exactly the correct width size for 46 panel doors. However the doors were to high for the opening and I had to cut them down in height to fit. It was very easy to add the panel doors.
