Years ago a friend of mine lived in the country. He had a Kioti 40hp 4x4 front end loader and I had my JD 950 out there. Depending on what you were doing determined which tractor was the best. My JD950 would mow circles around it while it handled other jobs with ease. My JD950 was 2wd with no loader.
Paul is right about the loader. If you plan to do any heavy loader work a bigger tractor is a must. With a smaller tractor it simply wont lift it or lift safe or it will take you 6 bites vs 1 bite to get anything done.
28-30hp will turn a 5 foot brush mower just fine in all conditions. A 6 foot or bigger is really out of the question. If you are doing a lot of mowing sometimes bigger is not always better if you have lots of stuff to mow around compared to a big wide open field.
I'd get a newer tractor if you are going to work it on a regular basis because of the safety features that older tractors usually don't have like seat belt and roll bar as well as an over running clutch on the PTO.
