I retired from making custom furniture a few years ago. Shortly before, I found a lumber yard back east that would ship boards. Shipping was cheaper than the mark up the yards locally used. And the quality was fantastic. And the boards were always thicker than spec- 5/4 was the price of 4/4. IIRC, we want 7/8" thick. I mostly bought Cherry, up to two feet wide, dunno if that yard in Penn is in white oak country?
