Girlfriend in high school's dad lost his license in his '68 440 RT charger going 140 mph because of a bet. He said the radar gun only went up to 120 at the time, early 70's.
Worked with a painter that had a '68 440 charger and said 148 was the fastest it would go on the highway over several miles.
Now mine. Put a 69 440 in a 73 plymouth duster. Headers and slight cam with 750 cfm holley but still had the original 2.76 to 1 rear end in it. It was still climbing pretty fast at 130 mph but the front end started rising and swaying back and forth pretty bad so I let off. Not sure what the top end could have been.
