Mine has 270 feet of 7/16 inch cable in it, laid flat layer after layer. It is full, but I don't use it, as the truck is rarely off the pavement.
One day with my brother's assistance we parked the truck on the street, pulled the cable out full length. Then we took an old tire (still on the rim), we put two cement blocks on it, tied a rope to it, then hooked the hook into the rope. He operated the truck clutch, I oiled the cable and laid it in tight, side by side, flat, layer after layer.
For a rain cover I use a 20 litre black plastic oil pail, it measures 15" high. Removed the wire handle, Measure and mark 22" around the top circumference, Cut it from top to bottom at those two marks, then remove most of the bottom of the pail, you will need one more saw cut from the centre of the remaining bottom portion out to the exterior wall of the pail, to let it flex. This pail fit so tight (end to end)that I had to cut off a bit of the bottom ring that holds it up off the floor.
Keeping the top of the pail to the right hand side, it literately snaps right into place. Sorry no picture. Try it, you will like it. JJB.
