I know for a fact they hold 14 people and a keg of beer. Beach chairs on the floor were a big help. SDSU co-eds were well represented that afternoon. ;~ )
But they sure ride nice. (coeds? 1/2 tons? BOTH!)
Course there was the trip over to the desert from San Diego where the original riders- me, Hawg Wheel, and his brother nick named Otis Amos, weighed a half ton already. Truck sure rode nice. Then we picked up a couple hitchhikers. They climbed aboard and asked "What do you guys do for a living, wrestle bears?"
I'll tell you about the rest of that weekend some time. (the 'bear wrestlers" weekend, NOT the coed weekend) A tribute to the never-let-you down-flat head. Bad head gasket and all. Hint: there used to be 33 water barrels on Hiway 8 coming up Devil's Grade. I met them all that weekend.
