Fedex shipping bids are killing me-

I price shipping for a tank, their site says $65. So I bump it to $75 for my customers. Ship away, and later Fedex dings my credit card for a final bill of $85. Cripes, they are off by 30%. I drop off at either a Mail box etc or a Fedex, prepaid on the net.

Any way to get a locked in price? They say "fuel surcharge included". I weigh on a double beam doctor's off ice scale.

Is UPS any better?
