It used to take 4 to 6 weeks to get to me here in Illinois (only 100 miles from where it is mailed).
When I finally got to the bottom of the problem, this is what I found out: Because of the lack of subscribers in my area, it was put in a bag destined for Chicago at the opposite side of the state. The post office there would look at it and say, "This isn't right", and send it back to Iowa to the Des Moines office (334 miles the other way). The Des Moines Post Office would look at it and say, "This isn't right", and send it back to Rock Island, Illinois (168 miles back the other way again) where it was finally forwarded to my home town post office. No post office wanted to accept responsibility. I could have intercepted it at least twice as it travelled back and forth on interstate 80 not 20 miles from where I live. I was steaming! It still gets me riled.
