The old Model-T manuals used to recommend installing a strip of bacon rind to fix a worn out rod bearing. When I bought my 55 Binder it had a bad rod bearing, so I dropped the pan, cut a chunk off of my belt I was wearing and slipped it in. I drove it home that way.
