I just finished rebuilding my hand brake. That thread was worn out on mine and I put a 3/8 helicoil in to repair it. Probably the original was 7/16. Take a picture or make drawings of the parts so you can put it back together again. I didn't and by the time I got around to putting it back together I was scratching my head. Even with the parts drawing it's a little confusing.
