I believe it was Mort Sahl (sic) who defined a liberal as a conservative who has been beaten by the police.
He also defined a conserative as a liberal who has been mugged.
Bottom line is try not to be too thin skinned about all of this. I was a liberal back in the 60's and slowly evolved into the conservative I am now. I get a kick out of humor no matter what side of the isle it originates from. You should know by now that a lot of the lifes blood of this forum is flowing through "traditional values / conservative" blood. Life is too short to get our undies in a bundle every time someone cracks a joke or expresses a view.
