By using snatch blocks,dead man anchors + 2 or 3 part lines you can change direction winch speed + most inportant the amount of stress on cable chain + hooks.There are formulas to calculate resistance + working strength of cable.# 1 rule of winching is SAFETY If possible it is better to roll then drag. As in a few other posts on subject jack up + plank so it will slide,lube it up with oil or grease or place pipe or poles under what you are winching.Always use the best in cable + chains + hooks + attach to something solid on whatever you are winchin.Always hang a blanket or coat between winch + what you are winching ( it will take the whip out of the cable if something lets go)After doing a few winchs you will gain experience in how cable sounds when winding on drum correctly.Crouch along side controls if possible + be aware + be safe
