Not I know that when we resurrect one of these old truck especially a military one it is going to draw attention, i mean how could they not being the coolest looking thing on 4 wheels right?
so I'm at this parade with a few members of my military club and we completed our parade then set up for our static display, Now I left the doors closed and the windows up with signage to please not touch,
you guessed it it's almost like the running boards are magnets for little kids, now I have flat paint on my truck so you can see every grimy little hand print all over the truck, that said I do not blame the children, and one on one I would be happy to let them sit behind the wheel for a photo op.
It the parents, I was less that 5 feet away and this guys sees the signs and looks around half heartily picks up his kid and allow the kid to scratch the crap out of the door, looks again and opens the door and has his kid climb in,
I know what you are going to say why didn't you go up and say something, well it's because the kid didn't know any better, and why ruin the moment, right, but then every kid thinks its ok, next thing you know thy are climbing over the gate after standing on the bumperettes scratching the of course then the tail gate as the attempted to get in thru the back,
I was astounded at the lack of respect, ignorance, and stupidity, I am a man of meager means I make an honest living, but work hard to do it, it took 5 years and what I consider a boat load of cash on my salary.
I built it to show it yes, to educate, and perhaps lure a new member or 2, sure mostly to have fun with, so on one hand the kids had fun, OK I'm reasonable, were they educated no, did we get any new members out of it, not that I'm aware of,
but to day was about the Boy, the veterans, I did bring a smile to a few older vets, I should be and am happy at that, hell it's only a thousand dollars and winters worth of work to make it right so i'll fix it,
So Am I out of line? What are your thoughts I really want to know?
