I am doing a rebuild right now (hope to finish tonight)and have found the parts to be of good quality.
Make sure and post what failed on your pump.
Perhaps it was a defective part - or it could have failed due to something else in the system.
For example that in-line electric pump could be introducing too much resistance on the inlet side of the mechanical pump. The diaphragm of the mechanical pump is not designed for a high vacuum on that side and it will wear through quickly if there is one.
I am not saying that the electric pump was the problem mind you. I am just saying that there are problems outside the pump itself that can cause it to wear out faster.
