I've done it myself. Reverse rotation guts into the box with the correct mount.

So I suspect that is what rebuilders do to get you the correct combination. Face it, those boxes are quite scarce. So, do the rebuilders mic the shaft? There has to only about .030 difference, not discernible to the naked eye.
