broken piston "jeep"

My wifes son has a jeep cherokee,straight 6.
Friday started wraping.
Un hooked everything today have it all ready to pull.
I droped the oil pan and the rearward most piston broke at the wrist pin.
If it didnt damage the cylinder. is droping in a new piston a viable option.It has 312,000 miles but truely the inside "except for the problem" looks brand new. ran great no smoke... Thanks Bill
