I'd say the NADA guide is about right. It would have to be a very nice truck to be on the high-end. Super nice trucks have gone for 20-25k.
Even on the low end of the NADA estimate, the truck would have to be complete and in drivable condition.
People who want $50,000 plus for their trucks are pretty much smoking something.
If you make a reasonable estimate of your truck's value, the insurance company will go along with it without the need for an appraisal. They basically know what things are worth. I've never had to get an appraisal.
Just keep track of how much you spend in time, effort and money. Your truck will be worth somewhere less than that :)
