It didn't go down all the way, but I haven't driven it yet. I thought maybe I had a clocking problem with the 'key', the double wide spline.
My plan is to check the fit by wrapping the shaft in a thin layer of plasticine clay, then jam it together. I call it 'poor boy's plastigauge', it will show me whether the taper is a match. Then I can scrape off the play-dough and save for reuse. I did say 'poor boy' eh? ;^)
