I would tend to say that the Kawasaki is going to be longer lived. I have a John Deere RX75 with the Kawasaki that was 25+ years old when I had to change out the motor. It still ran fine, just started to burn enough oil that it either fouled the plug and quit, or smokescreen the neighborhood....kept the skeeters down ;)
I ended up swapping the 9 horse Kawasaki one banger for a 20 horse V twin Briggs...had to take all of the plastic off the back, but I can mow nicely in road gear, just have to let off before I turn so I don't turf the lawn too bad.
