rear diff

Guys my pw has a 3/4 ton diff in the back, and would like to install the proper civilian diff in it. My question is it a bolt in change over? I remember something about doubbling gaskets in the past. My diff housing has the casting #856849 4
I am unsure if the housing is civilian or the earlier military. How do I tell? Thanks for the help, John
