When I lived in Cambria (1968-1971), in central Calif., on the coast, we used to use 1100 16 radials that had no tread, and low ply rating, and ran them at low pressure. That way they would stay on top of the sand instead of digging into it.
Dick Cepek was the man for tires in those days.
