63 was that last year in Washington for the stamped date. I have a couple of sets in the garage. '56 was the last stamped date plate prior to '63. Plates from 57 to 62 had stick on tabs. I am not sure when Washington stopped using the metal tabs. It had to be some where between 53 and 56.
Some southern stated had new plates every year until the 70's or 80's.
