Next door in Rhode Island low number plates are also a coveted status symbol....maybe it has to do with being a small state like Delaware...but unlike Delaware you cannot sell your plates, its illegal supposedly, this is Rhode Island after all....most get passed down for generations...rarely one comes available and if one does it is given out by state lottery...a few years back a guy was offered 25K for RI plate #7....it was all over the news and the guy was fined....
