I was just a scum-bag type on my scooter, a 48 Panhead following all the AMA types out across the desert on the Death Valley Run in the early 60's. I blew a head gasket about 10-15 miles from Barstow, Calif. I went into town and walked the isles of the only little store available to me. I eyeballed an Asbestos hot pad for setting hot pans and such on. I borrowed a ball-peen hammer and punched out my bolt holes and an end wrench and swapped it out. Never ran so good.
