I actually decided on the PS after my bad hand crush injury in '96. So it worked so well that I installed the largest padded steel steering wheel in the Bavarian Auto Parts catalog (BMW parts). Still not very big compared to the original wheel. I was still able to steer when once the belt got totally loose.
The original wheel is much more comfortable when wrapped with that padded perforated plastic/foam/vinyl stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart or anywhere for $10. I did that to my WC53 wheel and going to leave the original wheel even if I get PS. A good idea especially for those without PS; much better grip.
