If you take off workboots and put on dressshoes does that change your foot size?
The rearend gear ratio is determined by the # of pinion gear teeth to # of ring gear teeth. Nothing will change this unless new ring and pinion gears are installed. A low or tall geared rearend can be overcome by changing the diameter tire used or using a different transmission with overdrive.
A factory diesel powered truck usually has a taller geared rearend than a gas powered truck because the diesel is usually a lower RPM running, high torque engine so can and must usually have a taller set of rearend gears to run at highway speeds. If you do this swap, you may need to swap rearends to one from a gas burner as well.
