I have cleaned up some pretty nasty engines and I now get them out on the engine stand; take the crank clear out; take the head off; soak them real well in MMO from both above and below; then drive the pistons out the bottom with a two by four cut to size and in line with the piston pins. Theory being not to drive the rings past the seized place.
