We're talking about removing the pinion seal? It isn't possible till you remove the yoke. You then can use a big long screwdriver or two. And/or a tool called an oil seal remover, which is a flat piece of steel flared out at its' end into two unequal sized hooks that sort of act like the claw end of a claw hammer.
Obviously these techniques destry the seal, but presumably it is no good, since it is leaking.
To install a seal: use either the largest socket that is as close to the OD of the seal as possible, or there are little circular things called "seal inserters" which have a smaller round area that protrudes deeper and sort of centers it.
Avoid pounding on tool steel with steel hammers except very lightly and/or use eye protection. Plastic or rubber or brass hammers are good for things like this. If you are going to tap a seal in directly with hammer do it very carefully with a soft hammer.
Sometimes "seals leak" because the machined area they seal to on the rotating shaft is worn. That's what "Speedi-sleeves" are for.
