Why won;t my kick down linkage fit?

Ok, I swapped intakes and carbs between my 77 dodges (both have 360/727, but the 4bbl was a 4x4, and the 2bbl a 2wd) . My problem is that I can't get the kick down linkages to line up. They are too low. And yes, I swapped them between the trucks too. I am stumped, and don;t want to pat $100 for a universal linkage. Any ideas?? Thanks. Garrett
