My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of LtCol Marty Martin. My father served in the Army and his good friend Arnold Hayward lost his life in a fire fight while commanding his troops in Vietnam. We all owe are members of the armed forces our gratitude. As you pointed out, Freedom is not free.
