The front to rear line went out in my '97 Dodge 1500 during a quick stop for a light change (went about 5' past the stop line, even using the E-brake). Limped home on the front breaks, and replace all the steel lines and flex lines with SS lines from Classic Tube in Lancaster, NY. They also provided SS braided flex lines that are DOT compliant. Now firmer pedal and no corrosion worries.
Also, beware of using DOT 5 fluid in anti-lock systems. The silicone fluid has different anti-foam propoerties than DOT 3 or 4.
