The Suadis and other members of OPEC fix the global price of crude oil. Even when we produce our own domestic crude, we still can't break free of their price-fixing influence, becuase our oil trades on the global market.
The only way to break free is to diversify and produce doemstic energy from more sources besides petroleum.
