It may make you feel rich, but it actually makes you poorer faster.
Petroleum is a valuable resource. We shouldn't be so quick to destroy the environment so we can burn it as fast as possible. The longer we leave it in the ground (our underground savings account), the more it will be worth. We should take our time and figure out how to extract that oil using more efficient and cleaner methods.
We definitley should not be in a hurry to build a pipeline to Texas, so they can ship that fuel to China.
