The Ford/Cummins guys in Kalispell, MT were installing lots of new 6BT's into new Ford trucks & they were selling kits & adapters etc that they had manufactured. I know they changed their name...I gather Ford wasn't impressed with their name & they were coaxed by Fords lawyers to change the name :)
I understand they are still in Kalispell & so if someone were inclined to install a ZF....I definitely think the diesel version would be the way to go.
That said...I'd go with an NV4500 for sure if it were me.
