If the winch needs a new brass gear, that'll set you back another $300. You can see it through the oil filler plug. Worth a quick look before buying a winch. Other than the brass gear, it's just 2 bearings and seals to replace, and the brass bushings that the drum shaft runs in, assuming the shaft isn't too worn.
