But my general outlook is the the cheapest, crappiest 'acrylic synthetic enamel' sold today is better than the oil based single layer(no primer) used on our trucks at the factory in the '50s.
$110/gallon, put on an extra coat. Maybe the second coat won't have any runs or orange peel. Beats the heck out of $800/gallon, or even $300.
