The WDX would already have a 25" engine in it wouldn't it? Your calculations are pretty much correct, only thing is the grille extension is there so if you use the grille like it's designed, when you hit something with it, it won't damage the radiator. I reckon 1/8" is too close for an off-road vehicle.
