Need correct seal for shift lever hole in 1/2 ton transfer c

I am rebuilding my Transfer Case from my 1/2 ton WC 12 and I come to an interesting problem...The seal for the shift rod hole in the case has an outside diameter of 1 3/32" and the replacement one from VPW is 1 1/4 inch. My original seal is also much thinner at (approximately 1/8inch) than the NOS one I received (approx.1/4 inch). I was told that the larger one is correct and will fit!
First off, has anyone familiar with 1/2ton WC had this problem and second, where can I get the correct seal? Thanks for your ideas.
