Most older heater motors have brushes in them rather than permanent magnets, which means they will turn the "correct" way no matter which polarity of electricity you put to them. The flip side of that is if you want to reverse the rotation (e.g. left and right ventilator blowers on an M43 ambulance) the only way to do it is cut the housing open, swap the wires to the brushes, and somehow put it back together again. Obviously since we're talking about the motor that came in the heater in this case, it will spin the right way from the start.
