Ok, My situation seems very similar to the OP and I'm not proud. Take my truck for instance. The guy was asking $5500 for it. Non-winch truck that had been sitting outside for 22 years (albeit in Phoenix). Not running, cab was rusted through at the corners and bottom of both doors. Had the rear shock and the overflow tank options (tank missing). Tires shot. Bed wood shot/missing. Nothing worked (windshield regulator, vent, window cranks, glass all cracked, etc.) Radiator shot (stupidly, I didn't check this before purchase). However, it appeared to have most of the pieces. Oh, it was local to me so I only paid a tow company to move it across town.
Anyway, I ended up buying it for $2000. I would have been better off finding one not rusted and running for $8 to $10K.
Just my .02,
Clark
