I read the article. There was a little more to it. If I understand the legalese, the miscreant was hauled in for domestic violence in October, released on his own reconnaissance, arrested a week later for "malicious injury to property" (graffiti) and "destruction of a telecommunications device" (? Maybe he tagged the phone booth or something ?). As a result of that crime spree, they threw him in jail, from which he asked the judge to let him out for a few days for Christmas and the judge said no. I think our judge studied under Roy Bean. The original domestic charges ended up being dropped. Such is life in the Silver Valley.
