the leaf sprung, m37, modified with a diesel, stouter overdrive transmission (retain granny low) and married np205 would be the best 3/4 ton tactical truck you could make for low bucks and easy maintenance. equip it with better axles dana 70s front and back, locking diffs and 4 corner boosted brakes. add simple power steering and you are done. you could crew cab it, ambulance it (fiberglass like the hummmer) or customize the bed to fit a specific need. if i was equipping a 3/4 to vehicle, it would be the truck to use. the hummer, for what it is currently used for, it the incorrect vehicle. it is too heavy and underpowered when loaded and armored up. guys in the mid east need a bigger truck platform that provides the protection and speed that they need to get out of harms way.
