A bit O.T. but I seem to recall when Bill Clinton was president there was a whole shipping container of real AK47s from Poly Tech (China) that showed up on the dock in San Diego with orders direct from the President to let them through. I think it was some flunkie who didn't know the deal, who blew the whistle on it. Nobody ever did reveal who they were addressed to.
