Nice P47 link. My dad helped design the ailerons for the P-47 as an engineering work/study student. He said the lead engineer would work on a blackboard as the smaller groups would come up with numbers from their slide rules. He described the classroom as a sort of modern calculator.
BTW, I think Myanmar (Burma) has some NOS Spitfire engines!
