my guess is if you have a fresh(rebuilt) motor
measure it's compression and compare that with the factory's data to get an idea of where you are at and go from their, but no real mechanic here
still think the way to go on these is some boost
after Daryl chimed in on my comment about forced induction and he said use a toy charger and belt it
i thought he meant mate a turbo charger under the carbuerator and belt it, but he meant super charger not turbo charge which is a great idea that would slick too.
i did a search on it and some one had commented somewhere that that would actually give you some decent boost
either way you don't really need to raise compression if there is forced induction but you certainly good gaining even more power and economy
