My first 4x4 truck was a 78 Club Cab Dodge with full time 4 wheel and limited slip rear axle. I loved this set up. I put 140,000 on that truck and only had to replace one front axle u joint. The difference in mileage gain to swap in a kit isn't worth the price of the swap. This was proven back in the day that you'd have to drive it forever to realize a savings. Now granted gas was a lot cheaper in 78 so it may be a shorter payback now. I'd wouldn't be afraid of a full time set up if I were you. Just my 2 cents
