It was the M151 'jeeps' that were not DOT approved - they were deemed to be a roll-over hazard. They were cut from corner to corner with torches and sold as scrap. In the 80's I met a fellow in PA who would buy the scrap and rebuild the vehicles, until the DOT found out and ordered them to be cut and crushed. Your tax dollars at work!
