rear PTO driveshaft

I need help. I installed my rear pto driveshaft from the Bearing forward. This was a fire truck and had a 6 groove pulley on the cut off short rear driveshaft. There was a 1 5/8's spacer between the bearing and the frame. By pictures I have found the block shouldnt be there. When I bolt the bearing to the frame the end of the driveshaft is pointing at the front gastank brace. Should it be pointing up that much?
